This presentation was prepared and delivered by Bob (VE7ADX) to the club at the September 2025 meeting.  Bob went over the basics of the Internet Radio Link Project (IRLP), AllStarLink and EchoLink, how they connect amateur radio repeaters to the Internet, and how they are used.

Several club members met at the Lounge on Saturday to hear a presentation by Dave Jewers (VE7DJ) on using FT8 in POTA. Dave shared from his extensive experience doing hundreds of FT8 activations in the region. Dave offered many tips on equipment and set up that will make activating in a park go

Fred  (VE7IO) provided a talk on using logging software during a contest or other activities. He pointed out the benefits of that approach over paper logs. He gave an overview of the N1MM software and the logger developed by N3FJP.

Eric (VA7NX) provided a presentation on choosing an antenna for doing portable activities. Various antennas types were reviewed with pros and cons. The set up used by Eric during his POTA and SOTA adventures were shown and explanations as to why they were being used. See the attached file for a copy

Coffee Meetings

We meet every Sunday at 3pm for coffee and a chance to share our recent adventures with radio technology. We really enjoy meeting new people who are interested in learning about Amateur Radio or even other Hams! Join us this Sunday. We currently meet at the food court in Semiahmoo Mall.
