Activating Mount Zoa

Ralph and Eric took the day to hike to the summit of Mt. Zoa and activate it in the SOTA program. Mt. Zoa is located in the Coquihalla Summit area and is a popular hike for its amazing views and fairly easy access. As we went mid-week this time we had the mountain to ourselves, even the bears were taking the day off. We arrived on summit close to our planned time and then ate some lunch before setting up our equipment. Ralph soon was working stations on 20m CW and quickly bagged 7 contacts. Eric was using his 2m hand-held into a 30 watt amp, but no one was hearing. Eventually he worked two stations in Princeton but that was it. He also tried 20m SSB but that also proved ineffective. After an hour it was time to head back So 9 contacts were logged and the activation was successful.  The views were amazing and the exercise very helpful.
