The evening of Wednesday July 4 we did a bit of reception testing on the repeater to see if there was any noticable improvement in the reception capabilities of the system. I am pleased to report that it has improved a bit. Ross can now work the repeater from his home using his hand-held which he could not do before. The area around South point mall has some what better coverage though still a bit broken. Ralph can use his hand held around his yard quite reliably.
We also had a Surrey Club member call in while driving to White Rock. He was on 152nd and 88th and was able to hold a conversation with me. He was using a mobile unit at 10 watts. His reported signal level quickly increased as he drove south on 152nd. It was quite good around 85th.
So though still limited in coverage reporting, what has come in indicates that the repeater has definately improved and is much more usable in the White Rock area. Now we just need to add a few meters elevation to the antenna and it would do really well.
