Stuart Testing his Buddipole at the Park

Following on watching Ralph (VE7OM) activate Peace Arch Park with a Buddipole vertical, Stuart (VA7QB) returned today to put learnings into his modified Buddistick vertical.

A mild success, although the farthest DX was Russia!  Note the pics, Kenwood 480SAT with no tuner, Ralph had been very helpful in tuning the Buddipole/stick to near 1:1 SWR on all bands.  Stu worked 20 metres, 17 metres and 15 metres, with near 1:1 SWR, by adding/subtracting antenna arms supplied by Buddistick, as well as varying the length of the 10' whip.  Of course, critical was the correct length of the counterpoise.

It was also a test for Bluetti batteries, used remotely - so that 100 watts got out the antenna.  Main battery is Bluetti EB3A  268Wh battery with inverter, pics show the draw for 100 watts power at radio.  The estimate is that the EB3A would give an hour of radio time at that power, so the Bluetti B80 expansion battery (806.4 Wh) was pressed into service to continually top up the EB3A.  The pair would allow up to four hours of 100 watts transmission.....

All in all, thanks to Ralph for demo'ing his Buddistick vertical.
