Ralph picked up a new antenna today for our repeater. This antenna comprises four folded dipoles arranged in two horizontal groups with each group separated by around 4.5 feet vertically. The antenna should give us around 6dBd gain.

I'll report back when it is installed and operational.

The White Rock Club successfully completed our first independent Field Day exercise after many years of joining with the Surrey Club. We operated at Blackie Spit in Crescent Beach for four hours and made 87 contacts on three bands. The setting was spectacular and the event was a lot of fun for all who made it out. We will definately plan to be back next year! See our story in the club activities area for more details.

Eric (VE7EGK) ventured to Burnaby to purchase a 2m 4 element yagi. He chose the Cushcraft 124WS. His selection was based upon the 10.2 dBd gain, being only 3 feet long and it's ability to be rapidly assembled. Eric plans to purchase a 10m fiberglass portable mast to use with it in the back country. His goals are to do some propagation tests while deep into logging road country.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis on May 23, 2007.

Dennis suffered a fatal adominal Aneurism. He is survived by his son who lives in Arizona.

Dennis lost his wife a few years ago and spent much of his time in Arizona, and when he was home in White Rock, he enjoyed flying model Aircraft.

A few us got together and attended the Langley Swap meet to greet some old friends and to see what toys caught our fancy. The new digital dual receive radio from Icom was interesting. There were a number of nice HF rigs available for those wanting an additional unit. We had fun and enjoyed a nice coffee and muffin after the event.
