Individual Operating Stories

These activities are about individuals doing radio related adventures that may involve a small number of club members

A well known local amateur radio personality, Hiroshi recruited me (from White Rock) and a number of other amateur radio operators to volunteer for the 27th Annual Walk/Run for Prostate Cancer at Burnaby Lake on father's day.  I met radio amateurs from Abbotsford, Delta, Surrey and of course Burnaby

On May 10, 2025, three members of the White Rock Amateur Radio Club joined the Surrey Radio Club at Crescent park for their annual Fox Hunt.  After a warm welcome by the Surrey club and some instructions on hunting foxes, we headed off into a dark and wet forest to look for our prey.

Fred Orsetti (VE7IO) and Eric (VA7NX) activated Kwomais Point Park in the Park-on-the-air program on September 5, 2024. It was the first time for Fred and he had asked Eric who does POTA on a regular basis to come by and help him with some of the finer points of the program.

Eric arrived at the

Stuart Lyster (VA7QB, but as VE6MPRESS) activated the Empress, Alberta, railway station telegraphy room July 19 to 21, for the village's 110 Anniversary celebration.  His uncle Bill Babuk was the CPR telegrapher at that station in the 1940s and 1950s, and handled CPR telegrams- including the three

I (Eric) wanted to get together with past club member Stuart and when I called for a coffee Stuart suggested we head out to a park and play radio. I said I planned to be at Campbell Valley Park this Friday and so we decided to meet there and operate. Stuart had his BuddiPole Antenna and Kenwood

One of the fun events sponsored by the Parks on the Air group os the annual News Years event. The task is to get out to a park during the first week of the year and make some radio contacts. This year I (Eric VA7NX) decided to go out on January 1 and then on the 4th to activate Campbell Valley Park

Members decided to do individual operating for the event this year. Two members decided to combine the contest with a Parks on the air activation. Ralph took his station to Peace Arch Park. He found the [park very busy and the parking lot was close to full. He did find a stall and then carried his
